Deep down in Lefferts Garden, Brooklyn a few weeks ago. Just along Nostrand Ave south of Eastern Parkway is a concentration of Caribbean restaurants, bars and clubs. On the corner of Nostrand and Steiner just outside of hammonds jerk center, jerked chicken, jamaican jerked chicken, lefferts garden brooklyn the 2/3 subway stop is Hammond’s Bakery and Jerk Center. They proudly display their massive grill in the window. Hammonds is not a sit down place (there’s no chairs or tables), and that is probably a good thing because there was a huge line when I check it out. I got the Jerked Chicken special over rice for just $5. Thanks to the high turnover here, you’ll always get freshly grilled chicken. You can adjust the spice levels with the bottle of jerk sauce available on the counter.
