This month’s workplace birthday cake (how I love my job) is from Two Little Red Hens Bakery located on the Upper East Side. They created a very elaborate and beautiful spring flower decorated red velvet cake. Now as you know, I am quite critical when it comes to red velvet cake. My favorite in Manhattan is Harlem’s Make My Caketwo little red hens bakery ny - red velvet cake and my favorite overall in all 5 boroughs is Cake Man Raven out in Brooklyn. So given those heavyweights, how did Two Little Red Hens Bakery fare? I have to give them the props for the presentation, just look at it – it’s amazing! The frosting was dead on, but the only issue was the cake itself wasn’t as moist as Cake Man Raven’s but at least it wasn’t overly sweet either. To give it credit, the cake arrived refrigerated so it needed time for the frosting to melt down and this definitely improved the overall flavor given an extra 20 mins at room temp. Nevertheless there were absolutely no leftovers this month. I definitely need to visit the Two Little Red Hens and see what else they have to offer. Enjoy!
