City Jerk – Jamaican Jerked Chicken
591 Flatbush Ave

Out in Brooklyn again and wanted to try some more Jamaican Jerked chicken from one of the local neighborhood establishments. City Jerk stood out with their brightly colored flags announcing their grand opening. Ever notice how long restauranteurs milk their grand opening celebration? I guess those flags just don’t go out of style. Anyhow, City Jerk does actually look pretty new. We ordered a plate of the Jerked chicken with rice. Like Hammonds Jerk Center, City Jerk has plastic bottles of jerk sauce on their counter so you can regulate the spice levels. Unlike Hammonds, however City Jerk has seating so you don’t have to dine curbside. Kind of nice considering it was quite hot that day. The food was also good but the chicken was a little drier than Hammonds. Either way you can’t lose with the local restaurants here given the concentrations of ethnic residents. Speaking of which, the famous West Indian Parade is coming up this Labor Day weekend and I know this neighborhood is going to go off for sure!
