Walt Disney World Epcot Universal Orlando – Smoked Turkey Legs

Yeah so I didn’t get a chance to take any photos of the turkey legs when I was out in Disneyworld, Epcot and Universal (It was over 90 F with full humidity). However some coworkers managed to buy one of those oh so famous smoked turkey legs and it was actually pretty good. Why smoked turkey legs are so popular is beyond me. Anyhow here’s some funny photos I found on msn image search :

Also I found a recipe on the internet for the Disney Turkey Legs:

SMOKED DISNEY WORLD TURKEY LEGS

I have also been searching for the recipe for those wonderful turkey legs you get at Disney, Universal etc…
I am no cook and by no means proclaim to be an expert but I did take it upon myself to try a combination of things I picked up from several different recipes I found online. I thought they turned out great. Here is what I did.

6 large turkey legs
1/2 cup (or more) dark brown sugar
1/2 cup table salt
6 tsp liquid smoke

Put turkey legs in a large pot.

Dissolve brown sugar in three cups water and pour over turkey legs.

Dissolve table salt in three cups water and pour over turkey legs.

Add water to just cover turkey legs (mine took 12 cups total).

Remove turkey legs and add liquid smoke. Stir well until all is dissolved.

Put turkey legs back in and let soak overnight, covered in the refrigerator.

Smoke or grill until done, I used a large grill with a metal pan between the legs and the charcoal. I the brine into the pan and kept it filled during cooking by adding water. I did not use any wood chips.
