Chicago Ultimate Hot Dog

Chicago Ultimate Hot Dog

Was out in Chicago for my friend James wedding and heard about the hot dogs out there. Some of my friends out here in NY told me I’ve got to try out one of these hot dogs. Apparently they’re supposed to be as famous as the deep dish pizza. I lost my camera during some rough play at Whirly Ball during the bachelor party (long story) so unfortunately I do not have any photos of all of the great food I tried out in Chicago but I will try to summarize and describe the food over the next few days.

These are larger beefier hot dogs than those dirty water dogs you see on the streets throughout NY. They’re loaded with all sorts of crazy toppings such as peanuts, salad, etc. I got a polish Chicago ultimate hot dog at the Park Grill in Millenium Park. It came with a choice of cole slaw or kettle chips for about $9. We all just got back from a rough night of drinking. Funny it turns out that our waiter also pulled an all-nighter with alcohol still on his breath. haha. Anyhow the dog was pretty good and huge. A little on the salty side for me but it was grilled and quite juicy. The waiter gave me an extra hot dog bun and after cutting the dog in half I was able to basically get 2 servings out of it. I would have to go around and try more and more varieties of the Chicago hot dogs to get a good estimate on their pros and cons but I would have to say it was on the above average side but not quite as good as Mandler’s or Top Dog out in Berkeley.
