Little Morocco Halal Middle Eastern Food Cart 39th and 7th Ave Midtown New York NY
Little Morocco Halal Middle Eastern Food Cart Located at 39th and 7th Ave Midtown New York NY
I’ve been working in the garment district for over 6 months now and although I do miss the famous halal guys cart out on 53rd and 6th, I’ve found some equally good carts near my new job. Particularly great is the Little Morocco cart on 39th and 7th Ave next to the famous Pentagram Needle and Button Sculpture on Fashion Plaza.
While you don’t get as much quantity as the halal guys, at Little Morocco you definitely get more quality. Ok, before I piss off a lot of hard core street food enthusiasts, let me explain what I mean by quality. I like the food at 53rd and 6th, but if you break it down, it’s rice, some salad (iceberg lettuce and tomatoes), tons of meat and then the white sauce and hot sauce. At Little Morocco, the halal plate is a lot more: in addition to the meat, rice and salad, you get some garbanzo beans, some onions, some corn, parsley, dill, and other herbs that add complexity and flavor to the meal. Plus, if you are nice
they’ll throw in a few French fries or a falafel for free. The result is a very tasty platter of Middle Eastern food. I’m a little disappointed that the hot sauce is not nearly a fraction as spicy as the hot sauce at the Halal Guys, but as an added bonus there isn’t a line halfway down the street, so you can just go and pick up the food immediately at Little Morocco. If you really like halal street food, you definitely should check out the Little Morocco halal cart on 39th and 7th avenue. The guys are always really friendly and deliver consistently great halal. Enjoy!
