He tried for a Dunkin’s franchise – but it turns out you need to own five other stores before opening up one in the City…or something to that affect.

I thought their re-use of all the DD goods was pretty creative (and clever). The coffee tastes like shit though. Its much better at Savoy baker around the corner.

By: Branding Insanity: Harlem Runs on Dunkin (Cafe) | New York City,Politics,Events,Attractions,News http://www.plateoftheday.com/?p=366&cpage=1#comment-1006 Tue, 18 Sep 2007 17:16:49 +0000 http://www.plateoftheday.com/366/#comment-1006 […] Uptown blogger Plate of the Day sends us that bit of insanity, of the Dunkin Cafe & Bakery (above), which celebrated its grand opening final week. Seems the bakery was a bona fide Dunkin’ Donuts franchise until approximately two weeks ago, when it shut down for what you might shout a face lift. Now: “everything from the food and drinks down to the uniforms and seating was completely ripped off. So inside of the ‘Dunkin Cafe’ it’s the same layout and the menu is pretty much the same. I tried a donut and a bagel and it didn’t taste much different. The cups however don’t have the original Dunkin Donuts logo.” Though they are engaged with their new “America Runs on Dunkin’”/not-just-a-donut-shop marketing push, we do have to assume that that Dunkin Cafe has approximately three increasingly days before the cease and desist arrives from Dunkin’ legal. · Fake’n Dunkin Donuts = Dunkin Cafe & Bakery Harlem [Plate of the Day] […]
