Didn’t really eat these flies, but apparently the natives used to eat the fly larvae to survive. The funniest thing was this plaque from the Mono Lake park. “surprisingly edible!”??? I wonder if these park rangers actually cooked some up. They say it tastes like buttery nutty rice – I guess the next time I eat buttery nutty rice I ‘ll remember the Alkali fly larvae. haha
