Stumbled upon this bakery a few weeks ago. It’s a few doors down from Black Betty Restaurant, and although a modestly sized bakery, Cheeks features a full array of baked goods including speciality cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, pies and tarts. On top of that, unlike many so called fresh bakeries, Cheeks does all their baking on the premises.

Cheek’s motto is that they use the freshest ingredients such as unbleached and organic flour, organic eggs, and fresh Vermont organic butter. We tried a few cupcakes (vanilla and buttercream chocolate). I particularly liked the buttercream chocolate cupcake the best.

They didn’t have it that day, but I’m planning on going back to try out the Red Velvet cake. It’ll be an interesting comparison to my favorite – Cake Man Raven.
