CIMG0942 So I work with a lot of foodies. We love to talk about food, talk about places we’ve been, exchange recipes, go out for meals, and on the first Monday of every month it’s baked goods Monday. On Fridays, there’s wine and cheese starting at 4:30 pm or so. I love it. Recently Alyssa started (or I should say revitalized) the Burger Fridays club where we take an extended lunch at famous burger joints in NY. So far we’ve tried Le Parker Meridien’s Burger Joint, Five Guys Burger, Prime Burger, and Island Burgers. Those are all great places in midtown but now we’re ready to branch out to other famous places in the city. We have Shake Shack and JG Melon coming up soon, but last week’s excursion was down at Corner Bistro.

corner bistro burgers west village new york Corner Bistro is one of those bars where people come for the food as much as they come for a drink - and why not because what other way is better to enjoy a nice burger? The only issue is that it’s a very popular place, the grill is quite small, and because it’s a bar, people tend to linger around for awhile. We waited at least 45 mins just to get a table then an additional 30 mins for the food. Fortunately, unlike Five Guys, the menu is quite simple - just burgers, cheeseburgers or the bistro burger which comes with bacon. The fries are crispy and I think they add bacon fat into the oil because there’s a slight bacon taste wth the fries.

About the wait - yes the burgers are worth the wait, but do plan ahead unlike I did. If you closely examine the photo on top, you’ll see my computer keyboard in the background and that’s because I had to jet out of there for a meeting and eat my burger back at the office! Just clear your calendar if you intend to come here for a work lunch or do what my coworker Paul suggested - show up late. Late at night, go in for a beer and order the burger. It’s the best thing before passing out on the train home.
