Juicy Js Natural Juices and Jamaican Grill Negril Jamaica
Juicy Js Natural Juices Jamaican Grill Negril Jamaica
On the roundabout in Negril Jamaica
The first place we went to eat in Jamaica was Juicy Js in Negril. It features all kinds of natural juices and of course a locals menu to Jamaican food. We had not eaten since early morning and were practically starving and getting quite aggravated from low blood sugar but the wait was
well worth it. Wait we did though - we were now on Island Time and it took about 15 - 20 minutes for them to prepare our meals. I had the Jerked Chicken and Sing ordered the red snapper. Both came with some coleslaw and brown rice and beans. The Jerked chicken wasn’t too spicy as I would expect but the grilled flavors really came out. The red snapper was delicious, very tender. It was also served with a spicy marinade.
The thing about Negril is that despite the overwhelming amount of tourism, it still retains that low profile small beachtown country feel. The only major franchise is a Burger King on the roundabout - every other restaurant and shop is local. That means you can enjoy local food, hang out with the locals and really get a sense of Jamaica in this small town. We landed in Montego Bay and there you see all the commerical franchises like KFC, Pizza Hut, etc.
