Refugees Taught How To Eat American Food (BBC)
I just read this article the other day which is pretty interesting. In Chicago a class has been set up to help new refugees adapt to the American food lifestyle. They talk about the obvious problems such as the American fast food diet, fried foods, and sugary sweets. They also arrange grocery store shopping tours to help them pick out the best types of foods. I can already see a whole new industry popping up catered for new immigrants. Guess it doesn’t really work though if you have a ethnic neighborhood to support you – like Chinatown, Japantown, Greek Town, Little Italy, etc.
